Going through old drawings I found this series. I used to draw things like this quite frequently. Speaking of Prism Thread Books, I would like to at some point publish a collection of my cartoons and drawings, something like Robert Williamsā Hysteria in Remission from Last Gasp (or was it Fantagraphics?). Publishing comics means having good design software and printers who can do that kind of work. Itās not cheap, Iām guessing.
One day I will save up enough money to buy the collected Zap Comics edition. Itās like $500. And I donāt even like all of Zap. Iām not so much into the gratuitous violence and sex that they got into. Iām more into the psychedelic aspects. āPsychedelic but monochrome,ā is my motto. Thereās a particular kind of comic art that I like: Williams, Victor Moscoso, Skip Williamson, Jim Woodring, Sergio Aragones, Prohia, Paul Mavrides. I like Robert Crumb most when he is drawing somebody elseās content, like the Kafka book or the Genesis book he did. Other than certain directions he went in with characters like Mr. Natural, I find I donāt like his stupid sense of humor when heās doing his own thing.
Overall comics have seemed like kind of a shameful pursuit, just proof that youāre an arrested development loser who canāt get laid. Thatās one perception of it.
I have folders and folders full of drawings that I want to draw upon in the event of publishing books at Prism Thread. Making book covers and interior illustrations, it will be cheaper to rely on my own design and artwork production style than trying to pay someone else for artwork or to cook something up from free sources. People publishing with me would have to be okay with working like that.
